Bangor is an excellent place to launch your Maine adventure! With plenty of accommodations, easy access to Interstate 95 and Bangor International Airport with service to all major flight hubs across the country, the possibilities to explore all of what Maine has to offer are endless. Cole Land Transportation Museum displays over 150 vehicles ranging from antique baby carriages to a locomotive and railway station. Penobscot River Cruises operates a riverboat which travels the mighty Penobscot River during regularly scheduled cruises and special moonlight and music trips. The Penobscot Theatre Company offer professional live theatre, entertaining dramas, and comedies and the Maine Shakespeare Festival performed each summer on the waterfront. The Bangor Mall is the largest shopping area in the region located just off the highway and Historic Downtown Bangor offers a variety of specialty shops, restaurants, a unique boutique atmosphere and an architectural excursion into Bangor’s past with daily activities, events, and a historic walking tour. With Bangor as your day trip headquarters, the Maine coast, whitewater rafting, camping, hiking, fishing, a variety of golf courses, Acadia and Baxter National Parks and historical landmarks are all within reach.


Getting Around Bangor

Most of the city is easily accessible along Interstate 95. the downtown and waterfront may be accessed via Exit 45A to I-395 Exit 3B (Downtown) Bangor International Airport is at Exit 46 (Hammond St.) The Broadway Shopping District is just off Exit 48. The Bangor Mall, many restaurants and shopping areas are off Exit 49 and the University of Maine at Orono is Exit 50.
