VA to MA, 1st timer

Traveling in June to Springfield MA from Harrisonburg VA. I see online the Interstate going through NJ/NY. What is the fastest, easiest way to MA through NJ, NY?
Do not mind the tolls if I get there faster (3 kids!). :lol:

Your best bet would be I-81 north to Scranton, PA, then I-84 east to Hartford, CT, then I-91 north to Springfield, MA.
