I am wondering if it's a commonly held observation that Florida drivers tend to be more aggressive. I am not trying to make an amusing stereotype, honest. :)
I do I95 between Jacksonville and Richmond several times a year. The tenor of the road always changes drastically once I cross out of Florida and get up into Georgia/South Carolina. It becomes so much more relaxing to be on the road.
Maybe I should move. ;)

What Balance That Out
What balances that out is when you see Florida drivers driving out of state, they will be going 45 to 50 mph in the left lane, while everyone is trying to go 65 to 75 around them, not having a clue.
Tourist drivers come from all places.

Fla. Drivers
I am born and raised Fla. (1959). I have found that the people from OTHER states are the agressive and inconsiderate drivers on I-95 and side roads. I was raised to be considerate to all people. But, when I got my drivers license my thinking changed. Try driving here in south Fla (W.P.B) area and see if you don't feel some sort of road rage within 1/4 mile from home. I drive an average of 200 miles a day. And the wife wonders why I come home with an attitude. We " FLORIDIANS "are not the bad drivers. It's the out of state and transplant driver. Good luck south Fla.

NY drivers are slooooooow
You want aggressive, come to NY. We are really aggressive.
Well I don't know if your including Long Island, but drivers there are incredibly SLOW. Even when noone is in front of them they drive like 50 on the highway. Makes me appreciate getting back to the US mainland where you can drive 80 in traffic. NY drivers drive like they are in a funeral procession compared to NJ at least.

Florida? - NO - Long Island drivers MUCH WORSE

have to agree. I visit Florida a lot - mostly Orlando area. This year I went to Daytona 500 and stayed in Sanford and drove to Orlando and Daytona each day on I-4. Central Florida drivers are not really that bad (where I was). Can't speak for I-95 South florida drivers which I understand are real bad.
Florida drivers can't compare to Long Island drivers - not New York City - not upstate drivers -both who are not so aggressive. On the New York State Thruway or Nothway, which are 65 mph you will only see speeds of about 70 mph. On Long Island Expressway 70 is minimum speed. (55 mph limit on Long Island). No one stays to the right as it is no longer the law. If you are going 60 mph on LIE someone wants to pass, if you are going 70 mph, someone wants to pass. I wonder if you were doing 90 mph would someone pass you?
Best part of LI is the county and local roads. Speed limits mean nothing. Traffic laws mewan nothing. Right on Red after stop becomes why stop if you don't have to?
FYI Suffolk County leads New York State in traffic fatalities.
bottom line- Long Island is MUCH WORSE than Central Florida. Why? Too many drivers, high speeds, lack of roads, lack of law enforcement, lack of obeying traffic laws.
Oh Yeah, Roads in most if not all of Florida are better maintained than Long Island.

AAA magazine (NYC) quoted a catch-phrase that is going around Florida natives - TOURON - cross between a tourist and a moron.
