Family fun stops, restaurants and lodging from NY to FL?

Just how do you keep the little rug rats occupied while on the road?

Will be traveling with my wife and two under 3 from L.I. to Sarasota. and Can you recommend fun places for the kids to burn energy, and good towns to stay overnight for good food? Will be traveling summer 2004. Any help greatly appreciated - first time road tripper hoping to convince my wife it's the way to go! Many thanks.

GOOD QUESTION

Postby VICK1 » Wed Feb 18, 2004 2:08 pm

Ok.......... Well here it goes.

I traveled the i-95 from n.j to fl last september. Along the way you will see a lot of rest stops that are not very comforting to be at during the overnight hours. Why? Well first of all they are dark and i would not let my kids wander off any farther than the back bumper of my car. Second it is in the middle of nowhere........ Need me to explain more? However not all of them are dark and desolate you will find a lot of good places to stop and stretch your legs. I need to know if you are traveling overnight or during the day. That .........as you will probably find out is the best thing to do with kids that age. Reply back with that information and i will try to help you out so that you won't end up like chevy chase and you can prove your point to your wife about road trips. Also another thing if you get bored while driving can you count how many "waffle house" places there are?

When you reply i'll let you know about a place called "south of the border" ok amigo.

Wassapenin' !!!!!!! (i'll explain)

see you later.

I wasn't the one who originally posted the question but I'm looking for good places to stop with my kids.

We plan on stopping every 2-3 hours for 30 minutes each time.

Any playgrounds or similar places for kids?
