Weirdest spots on I-95

There's some pretty weird stuff out there along I-95.

That, besides the horendous traffic, is one of the reasons the Wilson bridge is now being rebuilt. It won't eleminate the draw, but it will be higher. Thus fewer openings. Also doesn't eleminate the stupidity of it. Also when all is said & done, it will be the Wilson Bridges. Two bridges. Only alternative, if you know the opening schedules, is to go the opposite way around the beltway or through DC.

Forget the giant cigarette! There's this great victorain gingerbread building with a clock tower right next to the northbound lanes through downtown Richmond. I'm not sure what the building actually is, but when driving through such an industrial city, I think its extremely wierd to come across such a beautiful building wonderfully and quite oddly preserved from the destruction of I-95 just a few feet away. It's always been my favorite site along 95.

Strange Parts of I 95

Postby PiscesGuy » Sat Feb 26, 2005 10:22 pm

One strange thing I saw was a brush fire in the median in South Carolina. At first I thought I was a terrible accident. I guess its a bit dry down there. The car's interior smelled like misquete for about an few minutes when the smoke got involved with the car's A/C. This was in Feb '05

The cigerette is still there. I wonder if it has an observation deck.
Pedro is always in the trees taunting me to go to the South of the Boarder.

I like the Firework Warehouse Stores. Wow.... im from NY and seeing these firework outlets is wild.

I like the fact that when one drives over a river and stream there is the signs that tell you the names. Such as the Black River, Po River, Litte Pee Dee River and Malta River. Very exciting when I have to drive 800 miles a day.

Lake Marion is wild. Looks small on the Atlas, however one would have to be a good swimmer.

In GA... I like the Air Force Plane. The Tom Colman Highway is a Rush.

:D

Postby road trippr » Mon Apr 25, 2005 9:04 pm

JR's is always a great stop, if not for streching the legs. But if your looking for deals on Cigs. These days it's cheaper in S.C. Drive a bit more and you might save a buck or two

weird stuff

Postby snowbird » Mon Aug 21, 2006 2:07 pm

- I want to know some of the strangest places you came across. -

If you take the A1A to 301 route, you will find a number of speed traps. Some apparently are so notorius that there are billboards warning motorists about them. One town, perhaps fed up with the billboards, put up there own billboard-

LAWTY IS NOT A SPEED TRAP. WE ARE VERY CONCERNED ABOUT YOUR SAFETY.

How's that for a political answer ?????
