I-295 Richmond Area?

Postby TDNJ » Thu Aug 10, 2006 4:52 pm

I have never taken I-295 around Richmond. Does this route really save any time? I should hit Richmond about 7:30 AM on Wednesday morning.

That route is good only if you want to completely avoid I-95 traffic within the city of Richmond. The bad news is it will take you a few minutes out of the way (being a "horseshoe" route).

Tried it once. Didn't like it. we usually hit Richmond around 2-3 pm so either we are lucky, but I never had a problem with it.

I like I-295. It is a few miles longer, but the speed limit is higher, the road surface is better, and it has less traffic.

I've never used I-295, and have lucked out so far.... it's usually early morning when I roll through. Granted the I-95 road surface in Richmond is kinda crappy, but I prefer a straight route.
