Avoiding Traffic Boston
I will be leaving Plainville Ma and heading to Portsmouth New Hampshire. I want to avoid the Traffic going threw Boston. Is there an alternate route that would take me to NH. I am not sure if this is the proper place for this comment or should say warning. When leaving the Holiday Inn Express in Plainville Ma and turning left toward the Stadium I stopped to get Gas at the First Garage on the right side of the Highway (Mobile I think) it only had two pumps. I received the Gas and asked him to check the Oil, and don't know if it was because I was from out of State and Two Women that he told me I had a major problem and that I need to have an Oil Change (which was done 2 weeks prior) and he didn't like the look of the oil. He asked me to pull in the Garage and he would put it up on the lift. I maybe a Woman and from Canada but knew enough not to believe him and told him I would get it looked after I leave here, which I did and there wasn't a thing wrong with the Car. I guess he thought he had an easy mark.

If you stay on I-95 you won't go thru Boston. I-95 runs around Boston and directly to Portsmouth, NH. You shouldn't have any problems as long as you avoid the typical rush hours.

If you are going at an odd time of the night, where there's no traffic -- 95 to 93 north (straight through Boston), resume on 128/95 north of boston.
Option 2 as the Webmaster said - if there's no traffic, 95 loops around Boston, and will take you right to Portsmouth.
Option 3- route 495, a bit longer, but no traffic except at the rush hour. You can get on 495 near the Plainville track, follow it all the way to its end in Amesbury MA, where it rejoins 95. 495 takes a wider loop around Boston.

Thank You for all the replies, but unfortunately we would be driving to Portmouth around 8:00 am, so we would hit the Traffic no matter what Route we would take. Thanks again.
