Jacksonville eastern bypass (9A)

Wanted to report that in a recent trip, we tried the eastern bypass around Jacksonville (FL route 9A). This was a very pleasant drive - it avoided the traffic and twists of downtown Jacksonville, and it was only 3 miles longer that taking 95 all the way through. Highly recommended!

Evidently, 9A used to have traffic signals, but they've all been removed over the past 1-2 years. 9A is now a high speed, limited access highway.

We had asked AAA to reroute us crossing the St. Johns River. We got off at 353C, stay in the left lane sign says union street. Picked up 17 90,crossed at the Main Street Bridge. Nice small bridge, but you might get caught when its raised. Picked up I-95 south, very nice and easy, avoided the construction on I-95. Signs were clearly marked.
