Night Lane and Ramp Restrictions Scheduled on I-95 in Philadelphia

Nighttime travel restrictions are scheduled next week on Interstate 95 for construction at the Cottman Avenue (Route 73), Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue, and Girard Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced.

The operations are associated with construction contracts underway to improve the ramp system at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange, and to rebuild the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) and Girard Avenue interchanges and reconstruct and widen more than three miles of I-95 adjoining those interchanges.

The work schedule is:

• On Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two between the Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue (Route 73) interchanges from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for construction activities;

• On Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, the Princeton Avenue on-ramp to I-95 north will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on State Road, then left on Linden Avenue, then right on the ramp to I-95 north at the Academy Road Interchange;

• On Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, the northbound I-95 off-ramp to Cottman Avenue (Route 73) will be closed from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Motorists will be detoured north on I-95 to the exit at the Academy Road Interchange, then right on Linden Avenue, and right on State Road to Cottman Avenue (Route 73);

• On Tuesday, March 29, through Thursday, March 31, northbound and southbound I-95 will be reduced from three lanes to two at the Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue Interchange from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for beam setting and construction activities on overhead ramps. Intermittent stoppage of up to 15 minutes may occur on I-95 and on ramps at the interchange during these operations; and

• On Wednesday, March 30, I-95 south will be reduced from four lanes to two between the Girard Avenue and Interstate 676 interchanges from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for the installation of an overhead sign.

In addition to restrictions on I-95, travel on several surface streets at the Girard Avenue interchange will be restricted next week for demolition of the northbound viaduct between Palmer and Ann streets.

The work schedule is:

• On Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, intermittent stoppages of up to 15 minutes may occur on Girard Avenue between Berks and Richmond streets from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead construction;

• On Monday, March 28, and Tuesday, March 29, southbound Aramingo Avenue will be reduced to one lane between York Street and Delaware Avenue from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead bridge construction. Periodic stoppages of up to 15 minutes will occur; and

• On Monday, March 28, through Friday, April 1, southbound Delaware Avenue will be reduced to one lane between Aramingo Avenue and Berks Street for utility work and road construction.
