Avoiding DC Route Comparison

New Member

I'm trying to decide between 2 routes. Can anyone help me out?

The first: I-81 South to I-70 to I-270 to I-495 around Washington and then back onto I-95 and continue south...OR

The second: I-81 south to to I-64 then I-64 on to I-95 and continue south.

Is there a major difference between these 2 routes?

If you are trying to avoid DC related traffic the I-70 to I-270 to I-495 route will still have a fair amount of DC related traffic. Like every route timing of the travel in an area is key. I have not done I-81 to I-64 route, but have heard from others that it is less congested route, but do not know how much in miles or time there is in the trade off.
