Multiple Work Zones for I-95 Construction in Virginia, Expect Delays

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports the I-95 drivers should anticipate overnight delays on Interstate 95 this week, with multiple work zones requiring double lane closures in the Fredericksburg area.

The following lane closures are scheduled, weather permitting, from 9:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.:

I-95 Northbound

  • Exit 130 (Route 3) in City of Fredericksburg
    • Wednesday − Thursday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. on I-95 northbound followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. The work is connected to the I-95 Safety Improvements Project at the Exit 130 interchange.
  • Mile Marker 137 at Potomac Creek Bridge in Stafford County
    • Tuesday – Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning. The bridge is located at mile marker 137, just before Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway).
  • Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) in Stafford County
    • Tuesday – Wednesday : A single lane will close at 9 p.m. on I-95 northbound between mile marker 141 and mile marker 139 to allow crews to adjust the concrete barrier in the work zone.
  • Mile Marker 145 at Aquia Creek Bridge in Stafford County
    • Thursday – Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. the following morning. The bridge is located at mile marker 145, just north of Exit 143 (Route 610/Garrisonville).

I-95 Southbound

  • Mile Marker 145 at Aquia Creek Bridge in Stafford County
    • Thursday – Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. on southbound except on Friday when all lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m. On Friday, a single lane will close at 10 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at midnight. All will lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.
  • Mile Marker 137 at Potomac Creek Bridge in Stafford County
    • Through Friday: A single lane will close at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. Double lane closures will end at 4:30 a.m. A single lane will remain closed until 7 a.m. the following morning except on Friday when all lanes will reopen at 6 a.m. On Friday, a single lane will close at 10 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at midnight. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday.
  • Exit 126 (Route 1) Massaponax in Spotsylvania County
    • Through Thursday: Motorists will be restricted to a single lane on I-95 southbound at the I-95 bridge over Route 1 at Exit 126 (Massaponax) for bridge repairs starting at 9 p.m. All lanes will reopen by 5 a.m. the following morning.

Overhead message boards will warn drivers to stay alert for the work zones ahead and possible delays.
