The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) plans nighttime lane closures on Interstate 95 while a contractor dismantles the old US 301 overpass bridge in Orangeburg County.
The schedule, barring changes due to weather, by contractor United Infrastructure, of Chester, is as follows:
– Monday, Jan. 18, and Tuesday Jan. 19: one southbound lane will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
– Wednesday, Jan. 20, and Thursday, Jan. 21: brief stoppages and traffic pacing on southbound lanes from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. as girders are removed.
– Monday, Jan. 25, and Tuesday, Jan. 26: one northbound lane will be closed from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
– Wednesday, Jan. 27, and Thursday, Jan. 28: brief stoppages and traffic pacing on northbound lanes from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. as girders are removed.
The US 301 overpass bridge has been closed since summer 2014. A new US 301 bridge is under construction part of the I-95 / US 301 interchange/US 301 Connector to SC 6 project.
Motorists are advised to expect traffic congestion during the above dates and times and to use caution when traveling in work zones.
