Walterboro Area Insider TipsThe Inside Scoop From Seasoned I-95 Travelers
Traffic Timing: Expect minimal traffic issues through this area except holiday weekends when snowbirds are migrating. Summer weekends can see backups at the gas stations.
Gas & Food Strategy: Fill up here if you're below half tank - it's one of the better price points between Savannah and Florence. Exit 57 (Robertson Blvd) has the most options and easiest highway access. Skip the immediate exit food if you have time; downtown (5 min away) has better local spots.
Speed Trap Alert: The South Carolina Highway Patrol is VERY active on this stretch of I-95. The speed limit drops from 70 to 60 mph in spots - watch carefully. Local deputies also patrol the exit ramps.
Practical Notes: This is roughly the halfway point between Miami and New York - good place to stretch. Clean restrooms at the newer gas stations on Exit 57. Verizon/AT&T coverage is solid; T-Mobile can be spotty once you leave the interstate.
