Holiday drone shows over Boston Common kick off three months of citywide celebrations, with extended dates for The Frostival Lodge in Copley Square and the Ferris Wheel on the Rose Kennedy Greenway
After a spectacular inaugural year, Boston Frostival returns this December for its second season, giving residents and visitors alike new reasons to get out and explore the city during the winter months. Holiday drone shows over Boston Common open a three-month run of Frostival activations across the city, showcasing Boston as a winter destination in new and dynamic ways.
“The first year of Frostival was a great success, and we are excited to build on that going into year two,” said Martha J. Sheridan, President & CEO of Meet Boston. “Boston has so much going on during the winter months – fun outdoor activities, amazing culinary and cultural experiences, live entertainment, and sporting events – and we are creating a program to tie it all together.”

Festive Season Shines Bright
The festivities begin with holiday drone shows lighting up the sky over Boston Common on three consecutive Saturdays: December 5, 12, and 19. Each evening features two 15-minute shows, at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m., celebrating Boston’s iconic events, landmarks, and holiday traditions. New this year is media partner Magic 106.7. The drone shows provide an anchor to the entire festive season which includes twinkling lights across the city, cultural celebrations and First Night.
A Bigger, Bolder Frostival Lodge
The popular Frostival Lodge Furnished by Wayfair returns to Copley Square for an extended run, opening Friday, January 22 and staying open through the end of February. The Lodge will have a larger footprint in 2027, including supplemental space for special activations. Returning favorites include trivia and bingo nights, intimate musical performances, and tabletop games, along with NFL and NBA game broadcasts through Meet Boston’s partnership with NBC 10 Boston. New for 2027, visitors can enjoy tea service, wine tastings, a full bar, and literary events such as author and poetry readings. The Lodge’s new culinary partner The Catered Affair will offer a menu featuring rotating specials each week and a community table hosting chef talks and cooking demonstrations.

Ferris Wheel Season Extended Through April
Another Frostival signature attraction, the 75-foot Ferris wheel on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, returns for an expanded season. It opens in February and runs through April 25.
