Milford, Connecticut

Located along the picturesque Long Island Sound

Milford at a Glance…

Home of many of the worlds everyday products like Bic pens, Razors and Lighters, Home of Shick Razors. If my memory serves me correctly Subway was started here too.

This Interesting New England City was where the First Flea Market was set up in a Drive-in Theater. The Lobster Roll was first created in Milford at Perry’s Restaurant on US-1 by Harry B. Perry. Milford’s Beaches are the nicest in Connecticut and the Sandbar to Charles Island is the best for fishing for Bluefish. There is much History here and the people are down to earth and the Silver Sands area of the Long Island Sound is sheltered from large waves making it a very nice family area.

Comment from the author:

“The fishing is the best I have ever seen, who needs a boat here? My 3 favorite salt water fishing spots are at the mouth of the Milford Harbor where we have 2 Rivers emptying into the Long Island sound this area is loaded with shellfish and other forms of bait that attract Striped Bass and Bluefish, on the Southside of the Harbor is the best for Flounder and on the Sandbar to Charles Island as the tide changes anything can show up to cross the bar but be careful the current is deadly. These fishing areas are really great because as Dad fishes the family can play at the nicest beaches in the area.”

Getting Around Milford, Connecticut…

Exiting off of I-95 to US Route 1 heading East near the Howard Johnson Motor Lodge there is a fork in the road to the left is Cherry Street. That is the easiest way to our Downtown from there everything becomes easy to find. This New England City has a fantastic Green Downtown and in the Springtime the Chinese Cherry trees blossom with such a charm making this green look like a very special garden. Milford has many such greens where the locals love to enjoy the open spaces for winter Ice skating and spring picnics. Our Harbor is so sheltered and comes all the way into the Downtown area several miles inland.
