My wife and I were passing through New Rochelle on I-95 and decided to pull off and grab a bite, and boy are we glad we stumbled upon a restaurant called Sweet Potatoes. From the moment we walked in, the place just felt warm and welcoming – the kind of spot that reminds you of a home-cooked Sunday meal. The staff treated us like regulars even though we were clearly just passing through, and that hospitality vibe was genuine and refreshing. We both ordered the southern fried chicken and some sides, and everything came out hot, flavorful, and generously portioned. The mac and cheese alone was worth the detour off the highway!
The prices were very reasonable, especially for the amount of food you get, which we really appreciated as travelers just looking for a satisfying, honest meal. The dining room was comfortable and clean, nothing fancy, but that’s perfectly fine because the food is absolutely the star here.
If you’re driving through on I-95 and want something far better than fast food, do yourself a favor and take exit 16. We only wish we lived closer, because we would absolutely be regulars ourselves!
