Construction is underway on The New York Wheel, the $500 million Observation wheel on the Staten Island waterfront.
Moving up to 1,400 passengers at a time, riders will experience a 38 minute voyage featuring panoramic views of New York Harbor including lower Manhattan, the Statue of Liberty, Coney Island and the Brooklyn and Verrazano Bridges.
The complex will also include a 70,000 square-foot terminal building that will house educational and digitized exhibitions on New York City history and alternative energy. There will also be a 950-space parking garage, rooftop dining and entertainment area.
The 630-foot-tall wheel, the largest in the world is expected to open in 2017.
