The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge repair will occur at night next week on Interstate 95 under a $37.4 million project to perform high-priority repairs on 27 I-95 bridges in Philadelphia to maintain the functionality, safety, and mobility of the structures along this critical corridor.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, a single lane closure will be in place at 9:00 PM, followed by a double lane closure at 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM on northbound I-95 between Bleigh Avenue and Ashburner Street for diamond grinding.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this contract, PennDOT’s contractor will make repairs to the deteriorated bridge decks, superstructure components, and portions of the substructures as needed.
In addition to bridge repairs, 11 overhead steel sign structures will be cleaned and repainted. Existing roadway lighting will also be upgraded to LED luminaires.
This project is expected to be completed in late 2027.
