Lane Shifts, Closures for I-95 Construction in Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following travel restrictions as a result of I-95 construction and maintenance, thru Friday, April 27, 2018

New Traffic Patterns

  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 19 (Eddy St.) to Exit 18, and I-95 North, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 20 (Point St.), lanes shifted to the right for construction through Summer 2018.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Pawtucket: I-95 North, from Exit 29 (East St.) to the Massachusetts state line, lane and shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 19 (I-195), and I-95 South, from Exit 20 (Point St.) to Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.), lane closures for construction, Sunday-night from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 Southbound, from Exit 22 to Exit 21, left and right lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Richmond/Hopkinton: I-95 Southbound, Exits 4, 3, 2, 1 and Exit 1 Park & Ride, right lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for sweeping, Monday from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick/Cranston: I-95 Southbound, from Rte. 10 to Exit 10, right lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for sweeping, Monday from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick: I-95 North and South, from Exit 8 (Rte. 2) to Cowesett Rd., left lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick: I-95 North and South, from Exit 8 (Rte. 2) to the Hillsgrove Bridge at Service Ave., partial lane and shoulder closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 5A (Rte. 102 South) to Exit 5B (Rte. 102 North), bridge work behind barrier and in median, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

I-95 Travel Restrictions in Rhode Island This Week

The Rhode island Department of Transportation has issued the following I-95 travel restrictions through Friday, March 16, 2018:

Upcoming New Traffic Patterns

  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 19 (Eddy St.) to Exit 18, all lanes will be shifted to the right effective Monday, March 19. On I-95 North, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 20 (Point St.), all lanes will be shifted to the right effective Tuesday, March 20. The temporary traffic patterns will be in place through July 2018. Please note date changes.

Overnight Restrictions

  • West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 5A (Rte. 102 South) to Exit 5B (Rte. 102 North), lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • East Providence/Providence: I-195 West, from the Taunton Ave. on-ramp to the Gano St. off-ramp, lane closures for bridge work, Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Richmond/Exeter: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), right lane and shoulder closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ongoing Restrictions

  • Johnston: I-295 North and South at Rte. 5 (Greenville Ave.) between Rte. 6 (Exit 9A and Exit 9B) and Rte. 44 (Exit 12A and 12B), right shoulder closures for construction, through Summer 2018.

  • Providence: I-95 North and South, from Washington St. to Eddy St., alternating lane and shoulder closures and ramp narrowing for a bridge inspection, Tuesday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 5A (Rte. 102 South) to Exit 5B (Rte. 102 North), lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Hopkinton/Richmond: I-95 North and South, from Exit 2 (Hopkinton) to Exit 3 (Rte. 138), right lane and shoulder closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Richmond/Exeter: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), right lane and shoulder closures for construction, Monday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Providence: I-195 East and West, from Exit 1 (Point St./Eddy St.) to Exit 2 (India St./South Main St.), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Cranston: I-95 North at the Exit 16 (Rte. 10) interchange, shoulder closures with ramp narrowing for highway lighting work, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • East Greenwich to Cranston: I-95 North and South, at the on- and off-ramps from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), partial right lane closures in a moving operation for pothole patching, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect delays.
  • Exeter/Richmond: I-95 North and South, from Exit 4 (Rte. 3) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), lane and shoulder closures for survey work, thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Hopkinton: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to the Wood River Valley Bridge over Mechanic St., lane and shoulder closures for survey work, thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.), left lane and shoulder closures for electrical work, Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Richmond to West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 1 (Rte. 3) to Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.), partial lane closures in a moving operation for pothole patching, Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect delays.
  • Warwick: I-95 North, from Exit 9 (Rte. 4) to Exit 12 (Rte. 113), shoulder closures for highway lighting work, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
