Expect Severe Congestion as I-95 Lane Closures in South Carolina Begin February 21

The South Carolina Department of Transportation will be closing a lane on I-95 southbound at mile marker 147 over the Lynches River in Florence County on Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2018. The closing is necessary for the bridge deck rehabilitation project. The single lane closure will remain in place continuously for 30 days while crews complete the work. The expected completion date is March 23, 2018, barring delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

Over Size-Over Weight (OSOW) trucks will be restricted to 11 foot wide loads. All vehicles exceeding 11 feet in width shall use the posted detour route. The posted detour route will be I-95 South to Exit 150 (SC 403 South) to Lynches River Rd to SC 341 North to I-95 South Exit 146.

Motorists traveling along this southbound section of I-95 are advised to use caution in the work zone and expect traffic congestion. Motorists are also encouraged to use alternate routes or the dedicated detour to avoid severe congestion on I-95 in the southbound direction.
