Lane and Ramp Closures, Delays for I-95 Construction in Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following I-95 construction and maintenance projects that may impact travel through Friday, November 3, 2017:

Weekend Restrictions

  • Providence: I-95 South at Exit 22 (Rtes. 6 & 10/Downtown Providence) and Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), right lane closed and ramp narrowing for construction, Saturday from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Richmond/Hopkinton: I-95 South and North, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 1 (Rte. 3), right shoulder closures in a moving operation for brush cutting and chipping, Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Temorary Exit Closure

  • Providence: I-95 North at Exit 22B (Rtes. 6 & 10) and Exit 22C (Providence Place), exits closed for construction, Monday night from midnight to 8 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour. Please note: the ramps will also be narrowed Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Delays anticipated.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Cranston: I-95 North and South under Rte. 10, alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Cranston/Providence: I-95 North and South, from just north of the Exit 16 interchange to the Oxford Street overpass, alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Hopkinton: I-95 North and South, from the Connecticut state line to Exit 2 (Hopkinton), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Sunday and Monday nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
    • I-95 North: Sunday night
    • I-95 South: Monday night
  • Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, under Main St. and Garden St., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Monday and Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
    • I-95 North: Monday night
    • I-95 South: Tuesday night
  • Pawtucket: I-95 North, from Exit 28 (School St.) to Exit 30 (East St.), left lane and shoulder closures for drainage work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Pawtucket/Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 27 (George St.) to Exit 25 (Smithfield Ave.), left lane and shoulder closures for drainage work, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 23 (Charles St.) to Exit 20 (I-195), alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North and South, from Exit 23 (Rte. 146/Charles St.) to Exit 25 (Smithfield Ave.), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Please note: lane shifts will also take place on the on-ramps under Branch Ave.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 19 (I-195), right lane and shoulder closures for electrical work, Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick to Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, from I-295 to the Massachusetts state line, partial lane closures in a moving operation for striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • West Greenwich to Cranston: I-95 North and South, from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), left lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Hopkinton: I-95 North at the Connecticut state line, right shoulder closed for overhead sign work, Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 17 (Rte. 1) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), including the off-ramp to Rte. 10 North, right lane and shoulder closures and ramp narrowing for brush cutting, Monday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Providence: On the ramp from I-195 West to I-95 South, left lane closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the work zone.
  • Richmond to West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 6 (Rte. 3), right shoulder closures in a moving operation for pavement repair, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 South, from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), left shoulder closed in a moving operation for pavement repair, Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 South at Exit 5B (Rte. 102 North), right shoulder closed for overhead sign work, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ongoing Restrictions

  • Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Summer 2017.
