I-95 Travel Advisories in Rhode Island, Expect Delays

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following travel restrictions associated with I-95 construction and maintenance operations:

Overnight Restrictions

  • Providence: I-195 East and West, from Exit 1 (Point St./Eddy St.) to Exit 2 (India St./South Main St.), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Thursday night from 9:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Cranston: I-95 North at the Exit 16 (Rte. 10) interchange, shoulder closures with ramp narrowing for highway lighting work, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • East Greenwich to Cranston: I-95 North and South, at the on- and off-ramps from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), partial right lane closures in a moving operation for pothole patching, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect delays.
  • Exeter/Richmond: I-95 North and South, from Exit 4 (Rte. 3) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), lane and shoulder closures for survey work, thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Hopkinton: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to the Wood River Valley Bridge over Mechanic St., lane and shoulder closures for survey work, thru Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.), left lane and shoulder closures for electrical work, Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Richmond to West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 1 (Rte. 3) to Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.), partial lane closures in a moving operation for pothole patching, Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Expect delays.
  • Warwick: I-95 North, from Exit 9 (Rte. 4) to Exit 12 (Rte. 113), shoulder closures for highway lighting work, Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Lane and Ramp Closures, Delays for I-95 Construction in Rhode Island

The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following I-95 construction and maintenance projects that may impact travel through Friday, November 3, 2017:

Weekend Restrictions

  • Providence: I-95 South at Exit 22 (Rtes. 6 & 10/Downtown Providence) and Exit 21 (Atwells Ave.), right lane closed and ramp narrowing for construction, Saturday from 3 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • Richmond/Hopkinton: I-95 South and North, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 1 (Rte. 3), right shoulder closures in a moving operation for brush cutting and chipping, Saturday from 6:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Temorary Exit Closure

  • Providence: I-95 North at Exit 22B (Rtes. 6 & 10) and Exit 22C (Providence Place), exits closed for construction, Monday night from midnight to 8 a.m. the following day. Follow signed detour. Please note: the ramps will also be narrowed Tuesday from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m. Delays anticipated.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Cranston: I-95 North and South under Rte. 10, alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Cranston/Providence: I-95 North and South, from just north of the Exit 16 interchange to the Oxford Street overpass, alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Hopkinton: I-95 North and South, from the Connecticut state line to Exit 2 (Hopkinton), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Sunday and Monday nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
    • I-95 North: Sunday night
    • I-95 South: Monday night
  • Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, under Main St. and Garden St., alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Monday and Tuesday nights from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day.
    • I-95 North: Monday night
    • I-95 South: Tuesday night
  • Pawtucket: I-95 North, from Exit 28 (School St.) to Exit 30 (East St.), left lane and shoulder closures for drainage work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Pawtucket/Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 27 (George St.) to Exit 25 (Smithfield Ave.), left lane and shoulder closures for drainage work, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 23 (Charles St.) to Exit 20 (I-195), alternating lane closures for construction, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North and South, from Exit 23 (Rte. 146/Charles St.) to Exit 25 (Smithfield Ave.), alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day. Please note: lane shifts will also take place on the on-ramps under Branch Ave.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 18 (Thurbers Ave.) to Exit 19 (I-195), right lane and shoulder closures for electrical work, Thursday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick to Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, from I-295 to the Massachusetts state line, partial lane closures in a moving operation for striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • West Greenwich to Cranston: I-95 North and South, from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), left lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Hopkinton: I-95 North at the Connecticut state line, right shoulder closed for overhead sign work, Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 17 (Rte. 1) to Exit 16 (Rte. 10), including the off-ramp to Rte. 10 North, right lane and shoulder closures and ramp narrowing for brush cutting, Monday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Providence: On the ramp from I-195 West to I-95 South, left lane closed for construction, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the work zone.
  • Richmond to West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 3 (Rte. 138) to Exit 6 (Rte. 3), right shoulder closures in a moving operation for pavement repair, Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 South, from Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.) to Exit 5 (Rte. 102), left shoulder closed in a moving operation for pavement repair, Monday from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 South at Exit 5B (Rte. 102 North), right shoulder closed for overhead sign work, Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Ongoing Restrictions

  • Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Summer 2017.

  • Cranston/Providence: I-95 North and South, from just north of the Exit 16 interchange to the Oxford St. overpass, alternating lane closures for milling and paving, Monday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North, at the Clifford St. Bridge between the Point St. overpass and the Broad St. Bridge, alternating lane closures for construction, Thusday night from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 23 (Charles St.) to Exit 20 (I-195), alternating lane closures for striping, Monday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick: I-95 North and South at Exit 13 (Airport Connector), alternating lane closures for bridge work, Monday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Warwick: I-95 North, from Exit 12 (Rte. 113) to Exit 15 (Jefferson Blvd.), and I-95 South, from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 13 (Airport Connector), alternating lane and shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
    • Wednesday night: I-95 North
    • Thursday night: I-95 South

  • Providence/Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, from Exit 23 (Rte. 146/Charles St.), to Exit 30 (East St.), partial right lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for drainage work, Tuesday-Friday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 North, at the Clifford St. Bridge between the Point St. overpass and the Broad St. Bridge, alternating lane closures for construction, Tuesday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Richmond: I-95 North and South, just before and after Mechanic St. and the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, right lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work, Wednesday-Friday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Ongoing Restrictions

  • Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Summer 2017.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Cranston/Providence: I-95 North and South, from Elmwood Ave. to Eddy St., alternating lane closures for bridge work, Sunday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Richmond/Hopkinton: I-95 South, from Rte. 3 to the Connecticut state line, left lane closed in a moving operation for weed whacking in the center barrier, Monday night from 9:30 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.

Weekday Restrictions

  • Cranston to Cumberland: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations on I-295 North and South, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: at Exit 4 (Rte. 14); at the Rte. 6A Bridge in Johnston; at the Rte. 6 Bridge in Johnston; at the on-ramp from Rte. 6 to I-295 North in Johnston; at the Greenville Ave. Bridge in Johnston; and at the Leigh Rd. Bridge in Cumberland.
  • Hopkinton to Pawtucket: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations on I-95 North and South, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: at the Mechanic St. Bridge in Richmond, between Exit 2 (Hopkinton) and Exit 3B (Rte. 138); at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge in Exeter, between Exit 4 (Rte. 3) and Exit 5 (Rte. 102); at Exit 10B (Rte. 117 West); at the Oxford St. Bridge in Providence; and at Exit 30 (East St.)
  • Providence/East Providence: Expect right shoulder closures in a moving operation for survey work at the following locations on I-195 East and West, Monday and Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.: at the Gano St. Bridge in Providence; and at the Valley St. Bridge in East Providence.
