The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with I-95 construction and maintenance projects from September 26 – October 2, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change,
Temporary I-95 Lane and Ramp Closures
Providence: I-95 North and South at Exit 37B and the ramps from Rtes. 6 and 10 North to Memorial Blvd./Downtown, will be closed for striping, Monday night, from 11:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Follow signed detour.
Warwick: I-95, from I-295 to Cowesett Rd., various lane closures for construction, Monday – Thursday nights, from 8:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m. The Centerville Rd. on-ramp to I-95 North will also close for approximately four hours Monday night. Follow signed detour.
Warwick: I-95 South, at Exit 27B, off-ramp to Centerville Rd. West closed for construction, Monday night, from 9:00 p.m. – 1:00 a.m. Follow signed detour.
Overnight I-95 Lane and Ramp Closures
Pawtucket: I-95, from Exit 43 (Fountain St.) to the Mass. line, alternating lane closures with narrowed lanes for construction, Monday – Thursday nights, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Providence: I-95 North at Exit 37 C-D and B ramps, alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Monday and Tuesday nights, from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Providence/Cranston: I-95, from Park Ave. to Thurbers Ave., alternating lane closures for wall and bridge work, Sunday – Thursday nights, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Warwick: I-95 South, from Centerville Rd. (Rte. 117) to Quaker Ln. (Rte. 2), alternating lane closures for overhead sign foundation construction, Sunday – Thursday nights, from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Continuing I-95 Traffic Shifts and Closures
Cranston: All travel lanes on I-95 North and South at Route 10 have shifted to the right through 2026.
East Greenwich/Warwick: All traffic is shifted to the right on I-95 South at the Rte. 4 interchange through summer 2027 as we work to complete drainage improvements and construct the northern pier for the new flyover bridge from Rte. 4 North to I-95 South.
Providence: All travel lanes are shifted to the right on I-95 North, between the Rte. 10/Elmwood Ave. off-ramp (Exit 33) and the Thurbers Ave. off-ramp (Exit 35), for replacement of the Broad and Eddy St. Bridges in Providence through 2027.
Providence: I-95 at Eddy Street, all lanes are narrowed and shifted to the left on I-95 North and South at this overpass, located near the Thurbers Ave. (Exit 35) interchange for bridge work until further notice.
Warwick: The on-ramp from Jefferson Blvd. to I-95 South in Warwick is closed for bridge construction through summer 2027. During the closure, all traffic on Jefferson Blvd. heading to I-95 South should use the on-ramp to the Airport Connector outbound, located about ½ mile south of the intersection of Jefferson Blvd., Kilvert St., and Coronado Rd.
