Double Lane Closures for I-95 Construction in Fredericksburg

Motorists traveling on I-95 northbound near Fredericksburg, Route 1 southbound near Mary Washington Boulevard and on Route 1 southbound at the Falmouth Bridge will encounter lane closures and brief delays during the overnight hours beginning Tuesday, January 3 through Thursday, January 5, 2017.

The following lane closures are planned:

  • I-95 Northbound
    On Wednesday, Jan. 4 and Thursday, Jan. 5 two lanes will be closed on I-95 northbound at mile marker 131 to allow crews to remove overhangs from the new Fall Hill Avenue bridge over I-95. The overhangs were used during construction of the new bridge. On both nights a single lane will be closed at 9 p.m. followed by a double lane closure at 10 p.m. All lanes will be open to traffic by 4:30 a.m. each day.
  • Route 1 Southbound
    Beginning at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4 a single lane will be closed on Route 1 southbound between Alvey Drive and the canal bridge. Crews are performing storm sewer work and installing new median at various locations in the work zone. All lanes will be open to traffic by 6 a.m. Friday morning.
  • Falmouth Bridge
    Beginning Tuesday, Jan. 3 a single lane will be closed on Route 1 southbound on the Falmouth Bridge. The lane closure will be in place from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. each day through Thursday, Jan. 5 for bridge deck repairs. The bridge is located on Route 1 between the Fredericksburg City limits and the Falmouth Intersection.

Motorists are encouraged to be alert and use caution when driving through these work zones.
