The Rhode Island Department of Transportation reports the following highway restrictions associated with I-95 construction and maintenance thru Friday, May 19, 2017.

Friday Night and Weekend Restrictions

  • Providence: I-95 North at Exit 19 (I-195), I-195 East from the I-95 interchange to Exit 2 (Gano St./India St.), and I-195 West, from Exit 2 (South Main St.) to Exit 1A (Point St.), lane closures possible to establish a new traffic pattern, Friday night, May 12 from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence/Pawtucket: I-95 North and South, at the on- and off-ramps from Exit 23 (Rte. 146/Charles St.) to Exit 30 (East St.), ramp narrowing possible for roadway sweeping, Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon.
  • Richmond: I-95 North and South at Exit 3 (Rte. 138), right shoulder closed on the on- and off-ramps in a moving operation for tree trimming and chipping, Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • West Greenwich: I-95 South at Exit 5A (Rte. 102 South), right shoulder closed on the on- and off-ramps in a moving operation for tree trimming and chipping, Saturday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Overnight Restrictions

  • Cranston/Providence: I-95 North, from Elmwood Ave. to Eddy St., alternating lane closures for bridge work, Monday-Thursday nights from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • East Greenwich to Warwick: I-95 North, from Exit 7 (New London Tpke.) to Exit 13 (Airport Connector), right lane, shoulder and temporary ramp closures possible in a moving operation for roadway sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day.
  • East Greenwich to West Warwick: I-95 North and South, including the ramps, expect alternating lane closures in a moving operation for roadway striping, Sunday-Thursday nights from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Exeter/West Greenwich: I-95 North and South, from Exit 4 (Rte. 3) to Exit 6A (Hopkins Hill Rd.), partial left lane and shoulder closures in a moving operation for roadway sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North and South at Exit 16 (Rte. 10), partial right lane and shoulder closures at the on- and off-ramps for drainage work, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 North and South, at the on- and off-ramps from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 20 (Point St./I-195), ramp narrowing possible for roadway sweeping, Monday night from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
  • Providence: I-95 South, from Exit 23 (Charles St.) to Exit 20 (I-195), alternating lane closures for milling and cold planing, Sunday-Thursday nights from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. Expect delays.
  • Providence: I-95 North and South, from the Blackstone St. overpass to the Point St. overpass, alternating lane and shoulder closures for a bridge inspection, Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day.
    • Tuesday night: I-95 North
    • Wednesday night: I-95 South

Weekday Restrictions

  • Providence: I-95 North at Exit 19 (I-195), I-195 East from the I-95 interchange to Exit 2 (Gano St./India St.), and I-195 West, from Exit 2 (South Main St.) to Exit 1A (Point St.), watch for construction activities behind barrier and vehicles entering and exiting, Monday-Friday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  • Providence: I-95 North, from Exit 16 (Rte. 10) to Exit 19 (I-195), left lane and shoulder closures for landscaping, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Ongoing Restrictions

  • Exeter/Richmond: Watch for construction vehicles exiting and entering the median area along I-95 South after Exit 5 (Rte. 102) at the Tefft Hill Trail Bridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Spring 2017.
