The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that bridge and median construction will occur at night next week on I-95 in Northeast Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, October 6, through Friday, October 10, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, lane closures will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Cottman Avenue (exit 30) and Allegheny Avenue (exit 25) interchanges for barrier removal, deck repairs, and a traffic shift. The shift will move three lanes of southbound I-95 traffic right to allow for reconstruction of the median area.
- Monday, October 13, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from Aramingo Avenue to northbound I-95 will be closed for bridge beam setting. Motorists will be directed south on I-95 to the Girard Avenue exit (Exit 23) and turn left on Richmond Street to access the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
- Monday, October 13, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from the Betsy Ross Bridge to northbound I-95 will be closed for bridge beam setting. Motorists will be directed south on I-95 to the Allegheny Avenue exit (Exit 25), turn left on Lehigh Avenue and turn left on Richmond Street to access the northbound I-95 on-ramp.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The work is part of PennDOT’s $355.3 million project to widen and reconstruct northbound I-95 between Wheatsheaf Lane to just north of Margaret Street.
