Northbound I-95 travelers passing through Philadelphia August 11-14 should be aware of a major construction operation that will result in significant backups and delays that will impact their trip.
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that overhead sign structure installation and barrier removal will close northbound I-95 at night in Center City Philadelphia beginning on Monday, August 11.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Monday, August 11, through Thursday, August 14, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, northbound I-95 will be closed and detoured from the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard exit (Exit 20) to just north of the Central Philadelphia/Callowhill Street exit (Exit 22).
During the overnight closure, motorists will be directed to use the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard exit and turn left onto Columbus Boulevard to access the ramp to northbound I-95 at Summer Street or at Girard Avenue.
