A $86.7 million initiative aimed at enhancing the infrastructure of I-95 in Westchester County through comprehensive road and bridge improvements has begun. This critical corridor, extending from Pelham Manor to Mamaroneck, accommodates approximately 120,000 vehicles daily. The project is slated for completion by late 2026.
Ensuring the structural integrity and safety, the planned upgrades on I-95 will significantly enhance both safety and vehicular comfort.
The New York State Thruway Authority is strategically channeling resources into pivotal routes such as I-95. The initiative will involve the removal and replacement of deteriorated road segments, accompanied by the application of an advanced asphalt overlay to ensure a seamless driving experience. The scope of work extends from exit 15 to exit 18A, featuring the comprehensive rehabilitation of 12 interchange ramps.
Further, the project encompasses significant structural improvements to key overpasses and underpasses in New Rochelle and Larchmont. Safety enhancements, including the installation of state-of-the-art guardrails and lighting systems, form an integral part of this initiative. Nighttime operations will be prioritized to lessen traffic disruptions, though temporary lane closures and diversions will be necessary.
Concurrently, a distinct $61.8 million endeavor focusing on I-95 within the Bronx and southern Westchester is progressing toward a summer completion.
