I-95 travelers passing through the Fredericksburg, Virginia area this week should be aware of the following construction activities that may have an impact on their trip.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports the following traffic impacts for I-95 travelers in the Fredericksburg area through Saturday, September 27, 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
I-95 Southbound
Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway)
Wednesday – Thursday
9:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Alternating lane closures at mile markers 140-136 for rumblestrip installation, after recent paving.
I-95 Northbound
Exit 118 (Thornburg) to Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)
Wednesday – Thursday
9:00 p.m. – 4:30 a.m.
Alternating lane closures at mile markers 121-126 for rumblestrip installation, after recent paving.
Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) Off-Ramp to Route 1 Southbound
Wednesday – Thursday, 11:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
The off-ramp from I-95 northbound to Route 1 southbound at exit 126B in Spotsylvania will close overnight for two consecutive evenings, ending early Friday morning. Northbound I-95 motorists should use the most convenient alternate interchange, either exit 118 (Thornburg) or exit 130 (Route 3). Construction work for exit 126 improvements.
