The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that the Front Street ramp to northbound I-95 in South Philadelphia has reopened to traffic. The ramp had been closed since Monday, March 17, to maintain mainline I-95 traffic for high-priority bridge repairs.

Under this $40.3 million project, PennDOT’s contractor will make repairs to the deteriorated bridge decks, superstructure components, and portions of the substructures as needed on 27 interstate bridges in the City.

In addition to bridge repairs, 11 overhead steel sign structures will be cleaned and repainted. Existing roadway lighting will also be upgraded to LED luminaires.

Construction on this project is expected to be completed in late 2027.
