In late February as part of a contract with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), contractors will enter the final stage of the I-95 bridge rehabilitation project’s replacement of the 7th Street Bridge.

Interstate 95: Motorists can expect temporary overnight lane closures as the project progresses through its final stages. In conjunction with the bridge superstructure replacement, concrete repairs will be made on the bridge’s substructure elements, including piers and abutments. The long-term shoulder closures that had been in place on the I-95 bridge will be removed.

7th Street: The long-term closure of the southbound lanes that have been in place on N. 7th Street between Hospital and Jackson Streets will be removed, and traffic entering the city will once again be allowed across the 7th Street bridge. Temporary single-lane closures will continue to be utilized. Pedestrian traffic will also be maintained across the bridge.
