The Maine Turnpike Authority reports that beginning on Monday, December 28, 2020, construction crews will begin blasting ledge along the mainline, southbound, in the vicinity of the MTA maintenance facility (Crosby Farm) located at mile 45.5.

Currently, one blast per day is expected to occur between the hours of 10:00 AM and 1:00 PM. In order to conduct the blast, traffic will need to be stopped in both directions. Motorists should anticipate stops of up to six minutes during this time. Blasting is anticipated to occur for approximately three weeks.

This work is part of the Portland Area Widening project that is currently underway. This portion of the widening is scheduled to be complete by the Fall of 2021.
