The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that overnight construction activities will reduce northbound I-95 from three lanes-to-two lanes through the ongoing permanent reconstruction project at the Cottman Avenue Interchange in Northeast Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following I-95 travel restriction:
- Monday, October 2, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a right lane closure will be in place on northbound I-95 at the Cottman Avenue Interchange for placement of deck concrete on the outer half of the new northbound bridge.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work area because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The temporary roadway structure will remain in place until the outside sections of the new bridge are completed later this year. Traffic will then be shifted onto the completed outer sections of the overpasses while work on the center section of the bridge continues into 2024.
