The North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) reports that traffic will be detoured off I-95 early Friday morning, so contract crews can dismantle and remove a digital message sign.

The detour will affect both directions of I-95 at mile marker 100, which is a few miles north of Selma, and last from midnight until 5:00 a.m. January 26.

The work could be postponed if the weather is too rainy.

During this five-hour closure, drivers will be directed to get on and off at Exit 97 (U.S. 70) and Exit 101 (Pittman Road) and use U.S. 301, which is parallel to Interstate 95

Drivers should use caution while crews are working and allow extra time to reach their destinations. The digital message sign stretches over the highway, is outdated and has reached its useful life.

Recently, a new digital message sign has been installed on one side of I-95 near this location.
