The New Hampshire Department of Transportation (NHDOT) announces night work for a Portsmouth project on Sunday December 14, 2025, to close the I-95 Exit 7 southbound on-ramp in Portsmouth. Nighttime work hours will be between 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM. A detour will be in place on Market Street to direct traffic on to I-95 southbound via the Portsmouth Traffic Circle. The ramp will be reopened upon completion of the nightwork.
Weather permitting, the right lane and shoulder of I-95 southbound will be closed the night of December 14, 2025, from mile marker 15.2 to 14.6. During night operations portable concrete barrier will be placed to separate the work area from I-95 southbound traffic. Message boards, uniformed officers, traffic control devices, and smart work zone devices will be used to notify the travelling public.
This work is to facilitate the construction of sound abatement walls and privacy fencing along I-95 in Portsmouth. Northeast The $18.7 million project, is anticipated to be completed in the spring of 2026.
