I-95 Lane and Ramp Closures in Philadelphia Next Week

Interstate 95 motorists will encounter overnight lane and ramp closures next week for construction activities on a project to install a new underpass lighting system in the covered section of I-95 near Dock Street in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, August 13, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the two left lanes on northbound I-95 will be closed from just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange to just south of the Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange;
  • Tuesday, August 14, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the two left lanes on northbound I-95 will be closed from just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange to just south of the Interstate 676/Callowhill (Exit 22) Interchange; and
  • Wednesday, August 15, through Friday, August 17, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp from Market Street to I-95 South will be closed. Motorists will be directed to travel north on 5th Street, west on Arch Street, north on 7th Street and follows signs to Interstate 676 East to reach I-95 South.

Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on I-95 near the work areas. The contractor’s schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by December 2019.
