I-95 Lane, Ramp Closures, Detours in Fredericksburg Area Beginning May 11

I-95 travelers passing through the Fredericksburg, Virginia area next week should be aware of construction work in progress that may impact their trip.

The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports the following I-95 construction activities in the Fredericksburg area from Sunday, May 11 thru Saturday, May 17, 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

I-95 Northbound and Southbound

Exit 143 (Garrisonville Road) On-Ramp and Off-Ramps

Monday – Friday, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Mobile lane closures at the interchange on- and off-ramps. Mobile pavement marking.

I-95 Northbound

Exit 110 (Ladysmith Road)

Sunday – Thursday, from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Alternating lane closures with police directing traffic for milling and paving between mile markers 110-111. 
Thursday, Ramp Closure. The on and off ramps at Exit 110 (Ladysmith Road) will be closed Thursday, May 15, from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. as crews mill and pave. During this time, northbound travelers seeking access to I-95 northbound will be detoured to travel on Route 1 to Exit 118 (Thornburg).

I-95 Southbound

Exit 140 (Courthouse Road) to Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton)

Monday – Friday, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Single lane closure. Mobile pavement marking.

Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 118 (Thornburg)

Monday – Friday, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m. Single lane closure for pavement marking work between mile markers 129-124.

Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) Off-Ramp

Sunday – Saturday, from 7:00 p.m. – 10:00 a.m. Alternating single lane closures on the off-ramp from Interstate 95 southbound to Route 1. Final construction activities to widen the ramp and build an additional right turn lane to Route 1 southbound.
