The Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) announces scheduled lane closures associated with ongoing construction at the I-95/SR 896 Interchange to enhance regional mobility and infrastructure resilience. All work proceeds weather permitting.
I-95 Impacts
Effective Monday, August 17 through Friday, October 30, northbound I-95 will operate with a continuous lane reduction from the Toll Plaza to the Service Plaza. Three through lanes will remain open at all times north of the SR 896 interchange.
SR 896 Impacts
No lane closures or operational impacts are anticipated on SR 896 during this period.
SR 72 Impacts
- Monday, August 17 through Friday, August 21: Daytime single-lane closure on northbound SR 72 between Old Baltimore Pike and Bellevue Road (7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.) to facilitate truck access.
- Monday, August 17: Overnight lane closures on both northbound and southbound SR 72 between Old Baltimore Pike and Bellevue Road (7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.), with a contraflow traffic pattern in effect to support essential bridge work.
Motorists are strongly advised to allow additional travel time, adhere to all posted signage and temporary traffic control devices, and consider alternate routes where feasible.
