I-95 travelers passing through Maine this summer should be aware of construction work in the Augusta and Waterville area that may impact their trip.
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be doing paving work and making other drainage and safety improvements in Augusta and on I-95 Northbound between Augusta and Waterville. The I-95 work area begins at the Civic Center Drive Bridge and extends north 13.54 miles. This project will also involve work on Route 3 in Augusta involving paving, slope repair, updating guardrail, and drainage improvements. This work area encompasses the two roundabouts on Route 3 which provide access to I-95.
I-95 Work Schedule
Work is scheduled to begin on Monday, May 12th and be finished by October 31st. Motorists traveling along I-95 Northbound will encounter a double lane shift between mile marker 115 and 116 from May 12 through June 6th. Exits in the impacted area may be closed overnight from 9:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m. while crews are working. Message boards will alert drivers, who should expect lane restrictions.
