The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports the following scheduled lane closures for I-95 road work in the Fredericksburg area from Sunday, October 11 through Saturday, October 17, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
I-95 Northbound and Southbound
Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) to Exit 148 (Quantico)
Monday – Saturday, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Mobile northbound and southbound single lane closures for bridge inspections at multiple locations between exits 133 and 148 in Stafford.
I-95 Northbound Only
Exit 118 (Thornburg) to Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville)
Tuesday – Friday, from 7:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Varying single lane and interstate shoulder closures. Crews will gather soil samples at various locations between mile markers 121 and 141, and along the off-ramps at exit 130 (Route 3).
Exit 130 (Route 3) to Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton)
Wednesday – Saturday, from 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Single lane closure in the I-95 northbound local lanes for the inspection of the Rappahannock River bridge. On Friday and Saturday evenings, the lane closure does not begin until 10:00 p.m.
I-95 Southbound Only
Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville)
Sunday – Thursday, from 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Single lane closure or mobile lane closure between mile markers 145-142 near the interchange. Installation of pavement markers and rumble strips following recent paving.
Exit 136 (Centreport Parkway) to Exit 130 (Route 3)
Wednesday – Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m. Mobile work along the I-95 southbound off-ramps at exit 136 (Centreport Parkway), exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton), and exit 130 (Route 3) to gather soil samples.
Exit 133 (Falmouth/Warrenton) to Exit 130 (Route 3)
Monday – Wednesday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Single lane closure in the I-95 southbound local lanes for inspection of the Rappahannock River bridge.
Exit 126 (Spotsylvania)
Sunday – Thursday, from 10:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. and Friday – Saturday, from 10:00 p.m. – 4:00 a.m.
Varying single and double lane closures near the interchange for noise barrier installation. All southbound lanes reopen by 7:00 a.m. except Saturday, when all lanes will reopen at 4:00 a.m.
