The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports the following traffic impacts associated with I-95 construction and maintenance work this week in the Fredericksburg area that travelers should be aware of. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
I-95 Northbound Lane Restrictions
Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville):
Pavement marking operations will occur between mile markers 142 and 145 in Stafford County. Scheduled hours are Sunday–Monday from 10:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. and Monday–Thursday from 9:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. Single-lane closures commence at 10:00 p.m. on Sunday evenings and at 9:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Double-lane closures begin at 11:00 p.m. on Sundays and at 10:00 p.m. on all other nights. All northbound lanes will reopen by 4:30 a.m.
Exit 126 (Spotsylvania):
A single-lane closure will be in effect Wednesday–Friday from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. and Friday from 10:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. to support construction of exit 126 area improvements.
I-95 Southbound Lane Restrictions
Exit 143 (Aquia/Garrisonville):

Single-lane closures near the interchange will begin at 8:00 p.m., followed by double-lane closures at 10:00 p.m., Sunday–Friday from 8:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. and Friday–Saturday from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., in support of exit 126 improvement construction. Double-lane closures conclude at 5:00 a.m., with the single-lane restriction remaining until 7:00 a.m., except on Saturdays when all lanes reopen by 6:00 a.m.
Exit 126 (Spotsylvania) On-Ramp Closure:
The I-95 southbound on-ramp from Route 1 (northbound and southbound) will close Monday–Wednesday from 10:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. for construction. Motorists should utilize alternate interchanges at Exit 118 (Thornburg) or Exit 130 (Route 3) to access southbound I-95.
