The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) reports that all lanes of southbound S.R. 9/I-95 between S.R. 818/Griffin Road (exit 23) and S.R. 848/Stirling Road (exit 22) will be closed to traffic overnight from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18. This closure is necessary to allow crews to safely install traffic detection loops.
The first lane will close at 9:30 p.m., the second lane will close at 10:30 p.m., and all lanes will be closed by 11:00 p.m., reopening by 5:00 a.m. During the full closure, southbound S.R. 9/I-95 traffic will be detoured via the exit ramp to S.R. 818/Griffin Road.
Westbound S.R. 818/Griffin Road traffic will be detoured via southbound Anglers Avenue and eastbound S.R. 848/Stirling Road to access southbound S.R. 9/I95.
Eastbound S.R. 818/Griffin Road traffic will be detoured via southbound U.S. 1/S.R. 5, and westbound S.R. 848/Stirling Road to access the southbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp.
To ensure community and public safety, the following ramps will also be closed from 11:00 p.m. until 5:00 a.m.
- Eastbound S.R. 862/I-595 direct-connector ramp to the northbound and southbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes
- Southbound S.R. 9/I-95 entrance ramp from S.R. 818/Griffin Road
Motorists travelling within the southbound S.R. 9/I-95 Express Lanes will exit at S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard to follow the detour. The entrance to the southbound Express Lanes at S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard will be closed; the next available entrance is at S.R. 820/Hollywood Boulevard.
Thursday, March 19 will be used as a contingency night if needed. The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) will be onsite, and signage will be in place to assist motorists.
