The summer travel season is coming to an end. For those planning to hit the roads for one last summer getaway, the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) wants to make your Labor Day holiday travels safe and easy so you can spend more time soaking up the sun.
VDOT will be suspending many highway work zones and lifting most lane closures on interstates and other major roads in Virginia this Labor Day weekend holiday from noon on Friday, August 29, until noon on Tuesday, September 2.
While lane closures will be lifted in most locations, motorists may encounter semi-permanent work zones that remain in place during this time.
