Virginia - Rappahannock River Crossing

The Virginia Department of Transportation reports that construction for the Interstate 95 Southbound Rappahannock River Crossing project is ramping up with work advancing at the Exit 133/Route 17 interchange in Stafford County.

Drivers should anticipate lane closures and possible delays on Route 17 northbound and southbound starting next week, Tuesday, November 13 as crews begin construction activities for the new I-95 overpasses of Route 17.

Route 17 northbound and southbound may be reduced to a single lane overnight for the next several weeks at the overpasses to provide space for crews and equipment. Delays may occur due to the reduction in travel lanes.

Drivers are asked to be alert and use caution as they navigate the work zone. Work zone signs and barrels will guide motorists through the work zone.

Periodic single lane closures may be needed at this location and will vary at times. Crews will monitor traffic conditions and will avoid peak travel times to minimize traffic impacts.
