The Rhode Island Department of Transportation (RIDOT) reports the following I-95 travel restrictions through Friday, December 5, 2025. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
I-95 North Viaduct, Providence
Providence: I-95 North motorists are using a new traffic pattern after the Downtown exit and near Providence Place Mall with a newly relocated Exit 38, about one mile south of its former location. RIDOT has posted numerous signs to guide motorists to their destinations.
Ongoing I-95 Traffic Patterns
Cranston: All travel lanes on I-95 North and South at Route 10 have shifted to the right through 2026.
Providence: All travel lanes are shifted to the right on I-95 North, between the Rte. 10/Elmwood Ave. off-ramp (Exit 33) and the Thurbers Ave. off-ramp (Exit 35), for replacement of the Broad and Eddy St. Bridges in Providence through 2027.
Providence: I-95 at Eddy Street, all lanes are narrowed and shifted to the left on I-95 North and South at this overpass, located near the Thurbers Ave. (Exit 35) interchange for bridge work until further notice.
Overnight I-95 Closures
East Greenwich: I-95 South in the vicinity of Rte. 4 South (Exit 24B), left lane closed for road work, Sunday night, 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Providence/Cranston/Warwick: I-95, from Park Ave. to Thurbers Ave., alternating lane closures for bridge demolition/construction, Sunday night, midnight – 5:00 a.m., and Monday – Thursday nights, 8:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Warwick: I-295, from I-95 to Exit 1A, alternating lane closures for a bridge inspection, Thurs. night, 9:00 p.m. – 3:00 a.m.
Warwick/East Greenwich: I-95 North, from Exit 24A to Exit 24B, right lane closed for road work, Monday night, 9:00 p.m. – 5:00 a.m.
Weekday I-95 Closures
Providence: On the ramp from I-95 South to Borden St., ramp narrowing for a bridge inspection, Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
Continuing I-95 Closures
Warwick: The on-ramp to I-95 North from Rte. 113 (East Ave.) will be closed through the fall. Follow signed detour.
