Starting on April 26, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin work on the Kittery Visitor Information Center parking area and access road for a paving project involving ADA and drainage improvements.
There will be nighttime closures of I-95 Northbound for the on ramp onto I-95 from the visitor center and the off ramp from I-95 into the visitor center from 9:00 pm to 6:00 am from Sunday through Friday.
Access from Route 1 to I-95 will be restricted periodically for the duration of this project. Message boards and signs will be in place to inform drivers of the nighttime closures.
This project will upgrade ADA facilities around the area, improve drainage, and preserve the paving in and around the visitor center in Kittery.
Work is expected to be completed by the end of June 2026.
