The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) reports the following scheduled overnight lane closures and ongoing construction on I-95 near Fredericksburg from September 20-27, 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
- I-95 Southbound at Exit 126 (Spotsylvania):
Sunday – Thursday 8:00 p.m. – 7:00 a.m. and Friday-Saturday 9:00 p.m. – 6:00 a.m.
Single-lane closures near the interchange to mile marker 128 begin at 8:00 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 9:00 p.m. Friday, followed by double-lane closures at 10:00 p.m. for soundwall panel installation. All southbound lanes reopen at 5:00 a.m., except Saturdays when they reopen at 6:00 a.m.
I-95 Exit 126 Area Improvements (ongoing):
Route 1 is being widened to six lanes near the interchange to add a second left-turn lane for traffic entering I-95 northbound and southbound. An auxiliary lane is under construction on I-95 northbound from the on-ramp to the Route 208 (Courthouse Road) overpass to improve merging. The I-95 northbound and southbound on-ramps are being widened for dual left-turn lanes. Two noise barriers are being built along I-95 southbound. Project completion is expected in September 2027.
