The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that roadway widening and improvements will continue through approximately Thursday, May 21, on two I-95 ramps at Front Street in South Philadelphia under a $56.1 million project to perform high-priority repairs on interstate bridges and ramps, along critical corridors.
I-95 Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Through approximately Thursday, May 21, the ramp from Front Street to northbound I-95 and the ramp from southbound I-95 to Front Street (exit 19) will be closed and detoured 24/7.
PennDOT is coordinating the closure with the Sports Complex in South Philadelphia to reopen the ramps when allowable to one lane of traffic for two hours before and after high-volume events, including on Saturday, April 25.
During the closure, Front Street motorists will be directed to use Oregon Avenue and turn left onto Columbus Boulevard to access the ramp to northbound I-95.
Southbound I-95 motorists will be directed to exit at Broad Street (Route 611), turn right onto Broad Street (Route 611), and turn right onto Packer Avenue to access Front Street.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area or along the detour routes because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
