The beautiful weather rolls on in Virginia Beach as they gear up to close out the last month of summer in true VB fashion! With many festivals and events for travelers to experience this August, don’t miss out on the summer fun!

LET THE GAMES BEGIN

The 21st Annual Neptune Soccer Classic is back, providing a top quality soccer tournament that is recreational and competitive. Held at the Hampton Roads Soccer Complex (Aug. 5-6) for both men and women as well as coed divisions. Enjoy a game filled with teamwork, fun, positive attitudes and love for the game!

The Surfers Healing Team (Aug. 18 and 19), which is in its thirteenth year, was inspired by a boy with a disability who found the ocean to be his place of relief. These camps are centered on filling disabled children with peace and happiness catching some waves, guided by volunteers, at Virginia Beach’s Resort beach. In addition to the surf is a 5K run/walk benefiting SurfersHealing Foundation and Autism Society.

Virginia Beach is the place to witness professional surfers riding the curl. Celebrating 55 years, the East Coast Surfing Championships (Aug. 20-27) is North America’s longest, continuously running surfing competition. Known to locals and patrons as ECSC, the competition is also the second-longest continuously-run surfing contest in the world. The best of the best compete at ECSC, including more than 200 of the world’s top professional male and female surfers, as well as an estimated 300 amateur surfers. In addition to the competition, visitors may enjoy food and drink concessions and live music on the beach.

ARTS AND CULTURE

The Virginia Beach Tattoo Festival (Aug. 11-13), at the Virginia Beach Convention Center, is unlike any other arts festival you’ve been to before. Come out for live music, live tattooing, side show acts, suspension acts, local art, and more. This is festival is sure to amaze!

RUNNING ALL SUMMER LONG

Explore Virginia Beach’s emerging ViBe Creative District during First Friday ViBe (Aug. 4), when local artisans and shops extend their hours to feature special events, music, food and other entertainment throughout the neighborhood’s galleries and stores, located just steps off the oceanfront boardwalk in the Oceanfront Resort District.

Enjoy music, ranging from rock to blues to Motown, delicious food and local artists crafts at the seventh annual summer nights at Town Center concert series. This local favorite, Ynot
Wednesday
, takes place every Wednesday night until Aug. 30 on the Sandler Center Outdoor Plaza. The Virginia Beach Farmers Market will have local farmers with their fresh fruits, vegetables, and other homegrown items on the plaza. Check out the work of Virginia Beach local artists who will set up their handmade/handcrafted items inside the Sandler Center lobby.
